Born in Bristol, Christine trained at both Kingston-upon-Thames and Central Schools of Art before going on to work as an illustrator in London and Australia. She returned to Bristol in 2001 where she turned to printmaking, learning wood engraving, lino-cutting and wood-cutting at Spike Print Studio. Many of her prints combine both lino and wood-cut methods.
“It takes days to draw and cut the blocks, and each colour must be printed separately. Wildlife and the environment have long been my inspiration, and fine details have always fascinated me: the shine in an eye or the textures of feathers and water…”
