Merlyn Chesterman
Merlyn was born in England, and grew up in Hong Kong, returning to England to study Fine Art at Bath Academy of Art, Corsham, where she obtained a B.A., and from Bath University a Dip. Ed. She is a woodblock printmaker.
She has since frequently returned to the Far East, and especially to China, where she has studied traditional woodblock techniques at first hand.
Merlyn has taken part in numerous shows and has won a number of awards, both nationally and internationally. She regularly exhibits at the Royal Society of Printmakers, and several of her collaborative pieces with Pine Feroda have been selected for the Royal Academy Summer Shows.
Many of the smaller woodcuts depict images of life in China and Bhutan. Other work features the sea and coastline of North Devon, where she has lived for many years.
